Food logging

Switch to Food mode with the ☰ button on the home screen.

Tap + and describe what you ate in plain words, in English or Dutch. You can type a whole meal at once, such as “2 eggs, toast with butter”. Tempovi matches it against a food table on your phone, so this works offline and without an AI key.

Other ways to add food:

  • Scan — scan a barcode with the camera, or use a photo of the barcode. Products are looked up in Open Food Facts, and only the barcode is sent. If a product isn’t found, enter the values from the label once. Tempovi remembers it on your phone.
  • Search online — searches Open Food Facts by name.
  • 📷 Photo (AI, optional) — take or choose a photo of your plate. The AI estimates the foods and amounts, and you check the list before anything is logged. This needs an AI key for a model that understands images. Use JPEG photos rather than HEIC.
  • Usually now and From yesterday — quick buttons to repeat foods and meals you log often.

The top of the Food screen shows today’s calories, drinks, sodium and fibre, plus protein, carbs and fat.

Carbs are net carbs. Resistant starch and polyols (sugar alcohols) are subtracted and shown separately as not in carbs.

Switch on Day fully logged once you’ve logged everything you ate that day. Only fully logged days are used for energy balance. The screen then compares what you ate with the energy your watch measured (active plus resting). Keep in mind that the watch’s estimate is only accurate to about ±15–20 %.

Tap 📈 for charts of daily averages, calories vs energy burned, calorie deficit vs weight, and each macro, alcohol and caffeine.

Once you have 10 fully logged days within 3 weeks and 4 weigh-ins over at least 2 weeks, Tempovi works out what you actually burn from your intake and your weight trend. This is a cross-check of your watch’s calorie estimate. It doesn’t set targets for you.
