Getting started
Tempovi is a training and health coach for iPhone and Apple Watch. It reads your data from Apple Health on your phone, and turns it into daily scores, a session for today and a plan for the week. It’s free and you don’t need an account.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- An iPhone with the Health app.
- An Apple Watch is strongly recommended. Sleep, HRV, recovery and running metrics all come from the watch. Without one, Tempovi can only use whatever is already in Apple Health.
- To send structured workouts to the Workout app on your watch, you need iOS 17 or later.
- An AI key is optional. The coaching works without one (see AI coach & API keys).
Install
Section titled “Install”Tempovi will be available on the App Store soon. Once you’ve installed it, open it on your iPhone. The guided setup starts automatically.
The guided setup (about 2 minutes)
Section titled “The guided setup (about 2 minutes)”Every step can be skipped. Tap Skip to keep the defaults, or Skip all to jump straight to the app.
- Welcome — tap Get started.
- Connect Apple Health — tap Connect Health, then allow the data types in Apple’s permission sheet. Turn On All is the easiest choice. See Health permissions for what each type is used for.
- About you — age, sex, body weight and max heart rate. All are optional. If you enter your age, the app fills in an estimated max heart rate, which you can overwrite with your real one if you know it.
- Your goal — choose Leisure build-up or Race prep. For race prep, add the race date, distance and an optional goal time.
- Your week — how many days you want to run (3–6), your long-run day, and whether to include speed work (intervals and tempo).
- AI coaching (optional) — paste an Anthropic or OpenAI key if you want chat and AI reviews, or skip this. You can add a key, or choose another provider, later in Settings.
- Working with a coach? — only if a human coach will follow your training. Most people skip this.
- You’re all set — tap Finish.
